The Dutch team first faced unbeaten Team Israel on Wednesday afternoon. The remainder of the game against Great Britain was played after this.
Veteran pitcher Rob Cordemans conceded two runs in the second inning when Daniel Valencia homered and took Blake Gaillen with around the bases. The Netherlands realized the equalizer one inning later when Dwayne Kemp scored on a RBI of Curt Smith. The second Dutch run was the result of a balk by starting pitcher Schlomo Lipetz. Calten Daal was the one who scored the 2-2.
In the fifth at bat of the Netherlands 4 runs were scored: Dwayne Kemp tripled to left field and passed home plate on a RBI of Roger Bernardina. He also scored. Then Ademar Rifaela homered for the fourth time this competition. Sharlon Schoop also scored on this. Reliever Jon Moscot then took over from Schlomo Lipetz.
The Israelis scored twice at their at bat in the sixth inning: Ty Kelly scored the 3-6 when Tal Erel reached first base on a fielder’s choice. In the same action that caught out Zach Prenprase, Benjamin Wanger ensured the fourth run for Team Israël.
In the bottom of the 6th inning the Dutch hitting machine really took off: Rifaela homered for the fifth time this competion and this meant that besides himself, Curt Smith and Roger Bernadina scored. Two more solo homeruns by Hendrik Clementina and Kalian Sams resulted in a 4-12 lead.
Just one more run was scored in the eight at bat of The Netherlands: Curt Smith scored on a RBI of Dashenko Ricardo. The Israeli team already given up winning by that time and closer Tom Stuifbergen made it very hard for them to think otherwise.
The win against Team Israel (4-13) was not celebrated for long because there was still one inning to be played from the game against Great Britain of last Saturday. This game was suspended due to darkness. Gary Davison pitched the remainder for Great Britain and Shairon Martis did the same for The Netherlands. There were no changes in the score so the final result was a 2-10 win for the Dutch team.
