For the second time in three days Sweden took on Great Britain in the European Baseball Championship 2019. And for the second time the British team came out as winner. The ball game ended after eight innings in Solingen with a score of 12:2. Sweden remains winless in this years tournament and will finish in 12th Place.
The British Skipper, Liam Carroll, sent Alex Webb (3 IP, 2 ER) on the mound. The Pitcher would only last into the fourth inning, after giving up two runs to the Swedish side. Reliever Paul Kirkpatrick (W, 5 IP, 0 ER, 3 K) took over and never looked back. The British Pitcher did not allow Sweden another run in the remaining six innings. And because Great Britains offense combined for 15 Hits to score 12 runs, the game ended early after eight innings. Swedish starting Pitcher Elvis Hammarstadt (L, 2 IP, 4 ER) took the loss after only surviving two innings on the mound.
While the tournament is over for Team Sweden, the British side will take on Croatia on Saturday in Solingen (12:30h) in the next game of the classification round.
