The German national team lost their first game of this European Championship, against Israel they missed several chances to score runs and got knocked out in the tenth.
Team Israel got to Germanys Starter Enorbel Marquez early bringing home the first run of the game in the opening frame. After that early run the German pitcher showed a strong performance and held the Israelian offense to that single run. On the opposite the German offense broke through in the third, scoring two runs and knocking Israels starter Gabe Cramer out of the game early. But the German pitching didn´t manage to secure the one run lead, Team Israel tied the game in the eighth after a walk and two hits. In the bottom of the ninth Germany had the chance to win the game after a triple by Marco Cardoso, but the Israelian pitching managed to get out of the jam. Thanks to the Tiebreak-rule one hit for Israel was enough to take a two run lead in the tenth, in the bottom half Simon Gühring missed a Walk-off Home Run by inches and Israel managed to secure a lucky win.
Team Israel used five different pitchers for the win, with Starter Gabe Cramer being the only pitcher to allow runs. Best offensive player was Catcher Nick Rickles with two hits and two RBI. German Starter Marquez only allowed one run in five innings of work, best hitters for the German squad were Pascal Amon and Simon Gühring with two hits each.
After the unlucky loss the German team has the chance to secure their spot in the quarterfinals tomorrow in their game against the Netherlands, the Israelian team already locked their spot for the next round.
