Just 13 hours after their tough Quarterfinal loss to Italy, Germany came out clicking on all cylinders. Backed by a strong Offense that shelled out 18 Hits, the Hosts beat France 14-4 in the first classification game on Saturday morning. Nine Hits in the second Inning, capped by two Homeruns from Donald Lutz and Marco Cardoso gave Germany an early 9-0 lead. France got three runs back in the same frame but could not stop the german Runners from scoring. Neither Starting Pitcher Leonel Cespedes (1.2 IP, 7 Hits, 7 ER) nor the french Relievers were able to control the german attack. Deutschland-Starter Enorbel Marquez (5.0 IP, 6 Hits, 4 ER) kept his poise on the mound giving up only so many runs to secure the win. Daniel Thieben pitched two Innings of scoreless relief. Alex Schmidt and Donald Lutz each had 4 Hits for Germany, Lutz and Gühring also contributed 4 RBIs to the convincing win. The Germans will face the Czech Republic on Sunday morning at 11:00 in the deciding game for 5th place and the opportunity to participate in the olympic qualification tournament starting next week in Bologna.
