Team Germany won a pitchers duel by the score of 1:0. It´s the second win for the German squad.
It didn´t take long for the fans at the Ballpark Rheinaue to realize it wasn´t going to be a slugfest in tonights game. Both starters were bringing their best stuff to the field. Youngster Sascha Koch for Germany at his homefield as well as Michael Roth for Great Britain held the opposite batters to a minimum. The spectators didn´t see much offense until the fifth inning, when Second Baseman Marco Cardoso hit the ball over the right-centerfield fence and brought home the first and only run for Germany. Besides that Home Run Roth had a stellar outing, pitching eight complete innings needing only 97 pitches and holding the German batters to three hits. But due to the incredible performance by the German pitching staff this was enough; starter Sascha Koch threw seven shutout Innings, allowing only four hits and striking out seven. Minor league pitcher Sven Schueller closed the door earning a six out save, shutting down any hope the British team had for a comeback.
The Great Britain team will look to bounce back tomorrow in their game against the Czech Republic while Team Germany will look forward to continue their winning streak against Israel.
