Technical Commission announces Schedule Changes
The Technical Commission of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) announced a new set of schedule changes at the 2010 European Championship on Thursday evening. For a second straight only two games could be played, which forced the organizers to juggle a bit with the match-ups for the final round.
Especially the Netherlands, France, Sweden and Italy will have a disadvantage, as they are being forced to play twice on Friday. Sweden has the toughest program of all as they will play in Stuttgart in the morning before traveling to Heidenheim in the evening. But the players probably will be happy anyway after surprisingly advancing into the second round.
It was not only rain which caused the postponements of France vs. Italy and Sweden vs. Netherlands, but also the upset by Sweden over Italy, which would have meant that they have to play in Heidenheim against the Dutch team. But obviously it wasn’t possible after the two delays in their last preliminary round game in the morning and afternoon.
Schedule for Friday 30th July.
